Bolivia
I did not know that this landscape, tucked away in southwest Bolivia, existed until 2007. I came across the hexagonal plains while leafing through a friend's travel photos of his escapades throughout South America.
"What's THAT?" I pointed to a photo of blue and white expanse. All I wanted to do was bound across it.
"The Salar de Uyuni. Bolivia's salt flats"
Eight months later I was there.
This image of the remote Salar de Uyuni and surrounding landscapes that are within a day's drive of it, is a place where flamingoes thrive at 4,000 meters above sea level, nary a human in sight.
